This morning we unexpectedly lost a very special friend, companion, buddy, family member and captain of our boat. Rocky, our 4 legged "son" passed away this morning.
I'll never forget the day that we got him. It was my 22nd birthday and we were living in San Luis Obispo at the time. Tyson took me to the pound so I can look at dogs for fun. We had no intentions of buying a dog because we were living with his dad at the time. We turned the corner and saw this cute little doggie who had a smile on his face. The minute we saw him we knew we had to have him. Even though we had him for 7 years, he was around 11 or 12 years old, so he lived a long life.
I have never lost a pet before and so this has been very hard for me. He has given us so much joy and has truly become a member of our family and many others. The part that makes me most sad is that Kaylynn lost her best friend. They literally played with each other every single day. It has been a very emotional day for us and I am sure we will be grieving for quite some time. Our hearts hurt and our house feels empty.
Please watch this video and make sure to give your pet an extra kiss because you will never know when it will be the last one.

ReplyDeleteYou guys have so many great memories of Rocky and although Kaylynn won't remember him, she won't forget the warm feeling she'll have when she gets to see pictures of the two of them together once she's older. That first pet will always hold a special place in your heart and he'll live there forever. It's like you've lost your oldest child and it really does suck. Keep a picture or two of him up and around so you can see him everyday.
