5 months!

Kaylynn is 5 months old now and she has decided to throw us for a loop once again. She hasn't been eating well and she hasn't been sleeping well either. Numerous times (it feels like almost every night) over the past couple weeks, Kaylynn has decided that sleeping at night is not her thing. For a while, she was waking up around 5am and we would just give her the paci and that would snooze her for an hour or two. But lately she wakes up between 3-4 times at night (more so than when she was first born) and it is EXHAUSTING! She will wake up screaming for no apparent reason. Her eyes will be open and she will be stiff as a board, but screaming. The minute we put the paci in, she closes her eyes, goes limp and immediately falls asleep. This is great and all, but 30-60 minutes later she is doing the same thing! Some people think she is teething, but I have a hunch it might be night terrors. Apparently I had them as an infant and they are hereditary. I'm hoping that is not the case and this is just a "phase." Since she hasn't been acting hungry at all, we decided yesterday to take away one feeding. It seemed to work because she finally slept through the night again. But who knows, it could be a fluke. We are going to skip another feeding today to see what happens tonight. Wish us luck.

  1. How do you diagnose night terrors? and is there any treatment?
